Lunsford accepts 8 debate offers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford is hoping for a series of face-to-face meetings with his opponent, Republican incumbent Mitch McConnell.

Lunsford's campaign said Monday that the Louisville businessman has accepted invitations to eight debates.

McConnell and Lunsford are scheduled to meet in a debate this Saturday in northern Kentucky.

Lunsford wants seven more debates, including four faceoffs in less than a week in late October.

McConnell's campaign had no response to Lunsford's acceptance of eight debates, other than to say the senator is looking forward to Saturday's debate.
