LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford is getting some high-profile help from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, who showed her vote-getting strength in the Bluegrass state this spring.
The New York senator will campaign for Lunsford in Pikeville and Lexington on Sept. 20.
The Lunsford campaign said Friday it will be Clinton's first visit to the state since winning the Kentucky Democratic presidential primary in May by a wide margin over Barack Obama, the party's nominee.
Lunsford is challenging four-term Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell in the November election.
Lunsford says Clinton's appearance will energize voters who want a change.
