Michelle Obama: Don't vote because 'she's cute'

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Michelle Obama says voters need to decide this election by examining the issues, not because of looks or personalities.

Obama spoke to about 600 people in Charlotte on Thursday morning at a women's round-table on economic issues.

The crowd roared as she said, "People shouldn't make a decision this time based on, 'I like that guy' or 'She's cute."'

Might she be talking about Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin?

"I'm talking about me," Obama said with a smile.

Obama said her husband, Democratic hopeful Barack Obama, is the only candidate to deal with women's issues. She particularly focused on equal pay, health care, affordable college and recruiting new teachers.
