LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A national Democratic group is targeting Republican congressional candidate Brett Guthrie with a new TV ad claiming his family's manufacturing business shipped work to Mexico.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee ad that debuted Tuesday is being denounced by the Guthrie campaign, which calls the claim a "blatant lie."
Guthrie's father started the family business 20 years ago in Bowling Green. The company employs hundreds of people and makes aluminum die castings for the auto industry.
The hard-hitting ad shows national Democrats are putting money into the 2nd District race in hopes of picking up an open congressional seat. The race pits Guthrie and Democrat David Boswell of Owensboro. The two state senators are competing to replace Republican Rep. Ron Lewis, who is retiring.
