Memphis (AP) - Democrat Reginald Tate entered the race for the seat vacated by Kathryn Bowers just over two weeks ago but now seems a sure bet for the State Senate.
The Republican Candidate has withdrawn for medical reasons. His notice was effective Thursday and it is now too late for the Republican Party to pick a new nominee.
Bowers resigned from the Senate Seat, and withdrew as a candidate, effective September first. Bowers cited serious health problems as the reason for her withdrawal. She has been indicted in the Tennessee Waltz sting for allegedly accepting $11,500 in bribes.
