Ford Leading Among Registered Voters, USA Today/Gallup Poll Says

Nashville (AP) -- Another poll shows a tight US Senate race between Democrat Harold Ford Junior and Republican Bob Corker among likely voters in Tennessee. But it gives Ford a ten-point lead among all registered voters.

According to a USA Today/Gallup Poll reported today by the Tennessean, 50% of 598 likely voters said they would vote for Ford and 45% said they support Corker. The five-point difference is within the poll's margin of error of plus or minus five points, making the race a statistical dead heat.

Among registered voters, Ford leads Corker 46% to 36%. The sampling margin of error among the 891 registered voters polled is plus or minus four percentage points.

Ford is backed by 65% of people who identify themselves as moderates, according to the poll conducted September 27th through Sunday.
