Washington (AP) -- Senator Hillary Clinton says her faith and people's prayers helped get her through the scandal over her husband's infidelity.
At an event sponsored by the Christian group Sojourners and broadcast on CNN, Clinton said, "I'm not sure I would have gotten through it without my faith."
Clinton, Senator Barack Obama and former Senator John Edwards were the only candidates fielding questions on faith and poverty at the event in Washington.
Edwards said he believes in a God who guided evolution, and who guides people in their daily lives. He also said he's a sinner who prays for God's forgiveness.
Obama said faith can heal hurts and reconcile enemies. He also said that both government and religious groups have a moral obligation to help the poor.
