Columbia, SC (AP) -- Fred Thompson focused on conservative themes as he courted Republican loyalists Wednesday in Columbia, South Carolina.
The prospective presidential candidate said it didn't feel like he'd left home.
It was Thompson's first visit to South Carolina, which will have the first primary in the south.
He was in his native Tennessee Tuesday, raising money in Nashville.
Thompson easily sold out a fund-raiser in Columbia Wednesday for the state Republican Party. He will address the group, but plans no other campaign-style events during his one-day visit.
Thompson has no serious political organization in the state.
