Clinton picks up endorsement from former House Democratic Leader Gephardt

New York (AP) -- Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton has picked up another endorsement.

Former House Democratic leader Dick Gephardt, who twice ran for president himself, plans to discuss his endorsement in a conference call with reporters this afternoon.

The backing comes as Clinton finishes up a four-day campaign swing through Iowa.

The one-time Missouri congressman won the Iowa caucuses in his first presidential bid in 1988. But lack of funds cost his campaign momentum and he dropped out of the race after that year's "Super Tuesday" primaries.

In his second bid in 2004, Gephardt counted on getting an early boost from Iowa, but came in fourth. He ended his campaign the next day.

The Iowa caucuses will again be the first voting contest of the presidential campaign season. They're scheduled for January 14th.
