Possible candidate Fred Thompson's old papers get new interest

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson's papers are suddenly in demand.

The Republican's personal papers from his Senate service have been little noticed at the University of Tennessee archives, until recently.

With Thompson all but announced as a presidential candidate, his documents are in strong demand.

Thompson donated his papers to UT four years ago when he gave up his political career in favor of acting. He had a recurring role on the TV drama "Law and Order."

The papers haven't yielded any bombshells so far.
