NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Freshman U.S. Reps. Chuck Fleischmann of Chattanooga and Diane Black of Gallatin have prevailed in their hard-fought Republican primary campaigns.

Fleischmann defeated Scottie Mayfield, an executive with the dairy company that bears his family name, and Weston Wamp, the son of the district's former congressman.

With 88 percent of precincts reporting, Fleischmann had 27,660 votes, or 39 percent. Mayfield had 22,256, or 31 percent, and Wamp had, 19,668, or 28 percent.

Shortly after being defeated, Wamp issued a statement thanking all of his supporters and volunteers, "I wish the best to all of tonight's winners and will continue to be a voice for my generation as we move forward.”

Black beat Lou Ann Zelenik in a rematch of the 2010 campaign that featured saturation attack ads on TV. There is no Democrat running in the general election.

With 76 percent of precincts reporting, Black had 32,028 votes, 76 percent, to Zelenik's 14,773, or 32 percent.
