KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- In two months Knoxville voters will elect a new mayor to lead Tennessee's third largest city. Vying for the top job are 911 dispatcher Bo Bennett, army veteran Ivan Harmon, former councilman Joe Hultquist, software developer Mark Padgett, and regional planner Madeline Rogero. We asked all five to name the number one problem facing Knoxville. All of them gave the same answer -- the economy and job growth. So what are they going to do about it?.

"We will have to look toward bringing in more business, but I think we need to look locally first for what we already have here," said Bo Bennett.

"Try to influence people to come to Knoxville and move their businesses here because we are a great place to work, and have a great workforce," Ivan Harmon said.

Joe Hultquist wants to offer employers a younger workforce. "The best and the brightest if you will. We want to keep them here and attract more like them," he said.

"Supporting the local businesses that already call Knoxville home, proactively recruiting strategic partners in business, and establish Knoxville as a great place to start a business, said Padgett."

"Well it's the private sector that creates jobs. Again, government needs to be responsive and be a partner," said Rogero.

It's exactly two months until election day. And before the new mayor can sit in the big chair, he or she must convince you that they are the person for the job Thursday I'll ask each candidate why you should choose them.
