KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- The League of Women Voters of Knoxville/Knox County has a new tool to offer voters who need information on candidates and more.
The nonpartisan election resource is called Vote411.org and offers a "one-stop shop" for election information, including candidate details, voter registration tools and polling place locations. The site already exists on a national level, and the League of Women Voters has made sure that local information is available as well. It's designed to help Tennessee voters navigate the election process in November.
Detailed candidate information is available for State House and Senate seats, Congressional seats and the presidential candidates. When voters log on, all they have to do is enter their address to see information from all the candidates that will be listed on their ballot. Information includes candidates' direct responses to issue-related questions and will help voters to make a side-by-side comparison of the candidates.
“As voters, we need simple, informative tools to help us navigate Early Vote and Election Day,” said Jamey Dobbs, Knoxville/Knox County League president. “This is one of the most important elections of our lifetime, and each one of us has an important role to play in weighing in on the issues and priorities that matter most for our community. We believe the local and state elections are just as important, and voters typically know much less about the local candidates. Many people will skip voting on the local races, but now with Vote411.org they can easily and quickly find the candidates and compare their views.”
With early voting underway and a longer ballot this year, Dobbs says the League is urging everyone to vote early and avoid the wait on election day. Click the included link to take a look at the new election resource.
