MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Memphis Mayor A C Wharton says he is running for a second full term.
According to The Commercial Appeal, the 68-year-old Wharton acknowledged as his campaign prepared for a fundraiser Tuesday night that he will seek another term.
Wharton said he hasn't been talking publicly about it because he doesn't want it to become a distraction.
Wharton won a special election in 2009 to serve that last two years of former Mayor Willie Herenton's term. He then beat out nine challengers to win election to his first full term in 2011 with 65 percent of the vote.
