NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Four members of the Metro Nashville Council will ask that the city withhold $400,000 for electronic poll books after a squabble over primary elections.
Democratic leaders in the state Legislature claim Davidson County election results show a disproportionate number of people voted in the Republican primary election, compared with past years. They believe the machines defaulted to the GOP ballot when a voter did not state a preference.
County Administrator of Elections Albert Tieche denies that.
The Tennessean reported Councilwoman Megan Barry is calling for an audit of the process used in the Aug. 2 elections before more money for electronic books is doled out. Council members Lonnell Matthews, Jerry Maynard and Ronnie Steine joined in the call.
