SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- An event featuring former Alaska governor Sarah Palin as the keynote speaker in Sevier County is moving indoors.
The Sevier County Tea Party says they been planning the big event for seven weeks and two days ago saw a weather forecast that gave them concern. The event was planned for Smokies Stadium.
"But because of the weather, it was looking really bad for rain, but we had to make the tough decision to move it to an indoor facility," said Steve Osborn, Chairman of the Sevier County Tea Party.
Osborn says a 10 day forecast called for an 80% chance of rain.
Kelly Debord with the Sevierville Convention Center says one of the exhibit halls is open and available for the event. She spent her morning with event planners to help transition from an outdoors baseball stadium venue to the indoor setting at the Convention Center.
"Because the Convention Center falls under the city of Sevierville and Smokies Stadium, We're all under that umbrella, when they realized they had this possibility of rain it was very easy to make this transition happen," said Debord
Osborn says all the featured speakers have agreed to the move inside.
The promoter says ticket sales are swift and that there are a limited number of special VIP seats still available that include a meet and greet with Palin.
The event is June 26, 2014 at 6:30PM.
