CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- A Chattanooga City Council seat will be decided in a runoff election Tuesday.
Larry Grohn and Jack Benson square off after neither won 50 percent plus one vote required to claim the office in the March 5 election. Benson is an incumbent council member.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported the three polls are open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. EDT.
The other contested council seat was settled Monday when a judge dismissed a voting lawsuit by former council member Peter Murphy, leaving Yusuf Hakeem the winner.
The remaining council seats were set March 5 in the election in which voters gave mayor-elect Andy Berke a 72.2 percent plurality.
The mayor and council will be sworn in April 15.
