KINGSTON, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Upsets dominated the headlines in Roane Co. on Thursday as two incumbents were toppled.
State Rep. Julia Hurley fell to Kent Calfee in the Republican primary for the 32nd District, which also extends into Loudon Co.
"It's very exciting, there's been a lot of people helping me over the past several months including mostly my wife, who's my campaign manager and my best friend. Very exciting and I'm excited for all the people that helped me," said Calfee
Calfee added that he's looking forward to November when he'll square off against the Democratic nominee Jack McNew.
In another race that had drawn widespread attention, David Morgan defeated incumbent Teresa Kirkham and Steve Robinette.
"I guess I'm overjoyed," said Morgan. "It's been a long 8 month journey and I just really feel like the voters came out and responded."
The race received a lot of attention in May when former candidate J.T. Woods took his own life outside Kirkham's home.
