Nashville Restaurant Owner Found Shot in Alley; Dies at Hospital

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Police said a Nashville restaurant owner was fatally shot yesterday after an apparent robbery attempt.

A customer who had stopped by Spudz restaurant around 4 p.m. discovered 36-year-old Eric Lamont Brown in an alley behind the restaurant.

Police spokeswoman Kristin Mumford said Brown had a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Mumford said Brown may have been shot during a robbery, but police are exploring other motives.

She said detectives were using surveillance video to pursue other leads.
