Two Fires Hit Memphis Apartment Building On Same Day

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- An child died and more than two dozen people were left homeless after an early morning fire at a Memphis apartment building yesterday.

Then a second fire destroyed more of the complex less than 12 hours later.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fires at the Summerset Park Apartments. The first occurred around 2 a.m. and killed a 4-year-old boy. Officials have not released the boy's name.

A firefighter was also injured with second degree burns to his face. He was transported to the hospital where he was in stable condition.
