MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Former state Senator John Ford has refused to turn over thousands of pages of documents to a woman who is suing the dental firm that allegedly paid Ford kickbacks for a state contract.
Marie Kasten is seeking the legal documents for her lawsuit against Doral Dental USA. Her ex-husband was the head of the company and she is accusing him and other former owners of hiding company assets.
Kasten is seeking all documents and correspondence Ford has from Doral since 2001 and more than 22,000 pages of discovery provided to him by the federal government.
Ford is accused in federal court in Nashville of taking $800,000 in consultant payments from Doral and another contractor with TennCare while using his position as a state senator to promote those contractors' interests.
TennCare is the state's heath insurance program for the poor.
