MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- AirTran says it will begin service between Memphis and the Florida destinations of Orlando and Fort Lauderdale in January.
Those routes will be dropped by Frontier Airlines as fuel costs escalate.
AirTran spokesman John Kirby says weekday service will begin January 11th and the carrier will increase the number of flights for spring break.
AirTran will accept passengers that Frontier has already sold tickets to.
The carrier says it's also evaluating possible non-stops to other cities from Memphis.
