TN Waltz: Bowers sentenced to 16 months in prison for bribery

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Former state Sen. Kathryn Bowers of Memphis has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for bribery in the Tennessee Waltz corruption scandal.

Bowers, a Democrat, was the last state lawmaker convicted in the federal sting to be sentenced. Three other former lawmakers also have drawn prison sentences.

Judge J. Daniel Breen also sentenced her Thursday to two years' supervised release after her prison term.

Five former lawmakers in all have been convicted of bribery or extortion for taking payoffs from FBI agents posing as representatives of a fake electronics recycling company called E-Cycle management.
