ERWIN, Tenn. (AP) -- An East Tennessee sheriff says two of his deputies resigned after investigations.
The Johnson City Press reported Unicoi County Sheriff Mike Hensley said in news release that Capt. Rick Butler and Deputy Randall Killen resigned to avoid disciplinary charges. The officers were investigated separately.
Hensley said he sent investigation results into allegations against Butler to District Attorney Tony Clark's office for determination about whether criminal charges are warranted.
Hensley said the department determined Butler violated operating procedure and took part in misconduct.
Butler declined comment on Friday. The prosecutor could not be reached for comment.
