2 weeks out of academy, officer is decommissioned

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Metro Nashville Police have decommissioned a rookie police officer who graduated less than two weeks ago from the training academy.

A police statement said 39-year-old Robert Shouse was charged with aggravated trespassing and public intoxication Sunday afternoon when a neighbor called police saying Shouse was demanding entry to her home.

Responding officers said Shouse smelled of alcohol and appeared bewildered.

In addition to the misdemeanor charges, police took Shouse's badge and gun and launched an administrative investigation
