21 indicted on drug charges in West Tennessee

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- The U.S. attorney's office for West Tennessee says 21 people have been charged with federal cocaine trafficking violations.

A news release from U.S. Attorney Edward Stanton's office says those charged were arrested Thursday in the cities of Ripley, Henning, Gates, Brownsville and Nashville.

Each of the 21 suspects was charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine and cocaine base, also known as crack.

The charge is punishable by between five years and 40 years imprisonment, upon conviction.
