JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- Madison County Sheriff David Woolfork has suspended two deputies as an investigation into an inmate suicide continues.
Correctional Officers Tamara Taylor and Josh Hogg were suspended with pay on Wednesday according to The Jackson Sun, which reported neither officer could be reached Wednesday evening for comment.
A disciplinary hearing was scheduled for Jan. 11.
Jonathan Lee Carter was found hanged from a sprinkler pipe in his cell on Dec. 20.The 24-year-old Carter was on suicide watch.
He had pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery for which he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Woolfork said the deputies didn't follow a rule on how frequently to check on a suicide watch inmate.
