2 drivers charged in crash that killed wife

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Two pick-up truck drivers are charged with vehicular homicide after an accident that involved speeding and cutoffs killed the wife of one of the drivers.

Police told The Tennessean that they don't think 45-year old Charles Myres and 32-year-old Justin Bennett knew each other before the March 23 wreck that killed Myres' wife, Sharon, and injured the drivers of two other vehicles.

Witnesses told police the confrontation started when Bennett, who was driving just in front of Charles Myres, slammed on his brakes. Then Myres attempted to pass Bennett, who cut him off each time until the two trucks collided, sending them into oncoming traffic. There, they hit two other vehicles.

Prosecutor Ray Whitely said Myres was charged because his wife died due to his actions.
