PADUCAH, Ky. (AP) -- Police in western Kentucky have charged three teens in the killings of two kittens.
McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden told The Paducah Sun that the teens were arrested Wednesday after one of them posted photos on a Twitter account. Hayden said the first post showed a teen holding one kitten with a caption that reads "Before" and the second shows the animal, apparently dead, hanging on the rim of a trash can.
Hayden said the photos drew immediate attention in the community, and when deputies were dispatched to check out the scene they found a second kitten dead.
He said a veterinarian examined the animals and determined both died from blunt force trauma.
All three teens are charged with second-degree animal cruelty.
