MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Memphis police say that an officer shot and killed a man during a traffic stop Saturday night.
Police say the man died at the Regional Medical Center. Police did not immediately identify the man or the officer who opened fire.
Police say that a preliminary investigation showed that uniformed officers were checking on two males inside a 1999 Mercedes when one officer was struck by the suspect's vehicle.
A second officer then opened fire.
Police say the officer struck by the vehicle was taken to Regional Medical Center and was not critically injured. Police say the second officer was not injured.
Police were still searching for another person in the car who jumped out and fled the scene on foot.
