PARIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities in West Tennessee say a man who stole a state trooper's patrol car has been found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew said Monday that 21-year-old Joshua Kingsbury of Springville was found dead near where the patrol car was located Sunday night.
Authorities say Kingsbury had stolen the cruiser of state trooper Daryl Veliz who had stopped Kingsbury for drunken driving in Benton County. Veliz was checking Kingsbury's car when Kingsbury got into the cruiser's front seat despite being handcuffed and drove away.
According to The Paris Post-Intelligencer, Kingsbury's body was found in the Big Sandy Wildlife Management Area.
