3 hurt in boat-truck accident in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A pickup truck has jumped a curb, hit a display boat on a trailer and knocked it onto three people at a Nashville shopping mall.

All three were hurt but none suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident around 12:15 p.m. Friday outside Bass Pro Shops at the Opry Mills mall. Witnesses said the boat, parked next to a door, was knocked from the trailer.

The three were pinned for 20 minutes between a wall and the boat, witnesses said. The boat was jacked up in order to free them.

The 73-year-old truck driver, Charles Gillespie of Lawrenceville, Ill., was cited for failure to exercise due care. He told police his foot stuck on the accelerator.

According to WKRN-TV, the retailer was celebrating its spring fishing classic at stores nationwide (http://bit.ly/wiQZvT).
