NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Interstate 40 traffic eastbound from downtown Nashville toward the airport will be diverted onto other roads over the weekend.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation said that, weather permitting, contractors will repair three bridges in a short section of the highway between the I-24/I-40 split downtown to Spence Lane, east of downtown.
Eastbound traffic that would normally travel I-40 through downtown will be put onto the 440 Parkway, which loops the city's south side.
TDOT says a similar approach worked well earlier this spring to repair the same bridges westbound.
The closure will begin at 8 p.m. Friday and end early Monday.
