MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Shelby County deputies have broken up a teen beer party and cited nearly four dozen people.

A news release from the sheriff's office stated deputies responding to a noise complaint late Saturday night found a large number of young people in a home in Lakeland and no adult homeowners present.

One person who claimed to live there was described as combative toward officers. He was 18. Deputies said a 17-year-old girl was passed out on the kitchen floor.

A total of 24 juvenile summons and 22 misdemeanor adult citations were issued, all alcohol related. No one admitted buying the beer. Deputies said the oldest person there was 20 years old.

The homeowner was two hours away and had his brother secure the home.
