4th person charged in former officer's death

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities say an 18-year-old man charged in the death of a former Memphis police officer has been extradited from Chicago to Memphis.

Memphis police spokeswoman Alyssa Macon-Moore said Wednesday that Demetreous Santiago has been charged with first-degree murder in perpetration of especially aggravated robbery in former officer Charles Jones' death.

Santiago, of Jackson, is the fourth person to be arrested in Jones' killing. Jones' burned body was found Feb. 17 in Jackson.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Santiago after he drove away from a traffic stop in Memphis in a 2002 Lexus that once belonged to Jones.

Santiago was captured in Chicago on Feb. 29.

Online court records do not show if Santiago has a lawyer. There is no published telephone listing for Santiago in Jackson.
