SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Five attorneys have applied to fill a vacancy created when a judge who heard cases in four Tennessee counties retired.
Tennessee's Judicial Nominating Commission will hold a public meeting at 9 a.m. on March 8 at the Blue Ribbon Circle Club/Celebration Grounds in Shelbyville to interview the candidates.
The Shelbyville Times-Gazette reported that solo practitioner Forest A. Durard, Jr., of Shelbyville; Assistant District Attorney General Brooke Charles Grubb of Fayetteville; Barbara G. Medley in Lewisburg; John Harvey Norton in Shelbyville; and Michael Randles, a 17th Judicial District assistant district attorney general based in Lewisburg, each applied for the spot.
The position came open with the retirement of Judge Robert Crigler, who leaves the bench May 31.
The 17th Judicial District serves Bedford, Lincoln, Marshall and Moore counties.
