JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- Jackson Police have arrested nine juveniles on weapons charges after finding a pistol in a vehicle with them.
The Jackson Sun reported police were investigating a noise complaint at a motel late Saturday when they heard about seven shots fired nearby. Officers saw a silver sport utility vehicle quickly leaving the area and stopped it.
Police found a pistol lying in the back cargo area and discovered the serial number had been filed off.
Police arrested three 16-year-old boys, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy from Jackson; a 15-year-old boy from Mercer; a 16-year-old boy from Three-Way; and a 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl from the Denmark community.
All were later released to parents.
