NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- ATennessee election official say as many as half of those who vote in the primary elections might cast their ballots during the early voting period.
Election Coordinator Mark Goins told the Chattanooga Times Free Press he thinks early voting -- which begins Friday -- will be heavy.
Goins says he expects 45 percent to 50 percent of those who vote will do so between July 16-31. The traditional election day is Aug. 5.
Goins says a hot Republican gubernatorial race among three candidates and three open congressional seats are driving interest in the elections.
