FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (AP) -- One of last major units announced as part of the buildup of troops in Afghanistan made their final preparations for their deployment this summer.
The 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division cased their colors during a ceremony Tuesday afternoon at the installation on the Tennessee-Kentucky line.
Later this summer the 3,700-man brigade will join other units of the division already stationed in eastern Afghanistan.
Col. Sean M. Jenkins, the brigade commander, said that roughly 55 percent of the troops in his brigade are heading back to the same area where they were during the brigade's previous deployment in 2008-2009.
