KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - A Loudon County man wanted on outstanding charges has been arrested by a team led by U.S. Marshals in Phoenix, Arizona.
A warrant, issued by the Loudon County General Sessions Court in September, accuses Edward Underwood, Jr, 61, of raping a child younger than 13 years old. An investigation by Loudon County's Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals in Knoxville developed information that led them to believe Underwood fled the state.
Arizona WANTED Violent Offender Task Force arrested the man at a homeless shelter in Phoenix without major complications. Underwood is currently being held in Arizona pending extradition to Tennessee.
