MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Shelby County's mayor is praising the addition of four new Air Tran flights out of Memphis International Airport.
Air Tran, a subsidiary of Southwest Airlines, says the flights will include two daily trips to Chicago and one each to Orlando and Baltimore. The flights begin Aug. 11.
Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell on Monday commended the leadership of airport officials and the Memphis Airport Authority Board bringing the new air service.
Luttrell says the additional flights will help Memphis be more accessible to business and recreational travelers.
The announcement comes after Delta Airlines eliminated many flights at its Memphis hub.
