Court to hear child's case over reading the Bible in school

Knoxville, TN (WVLT) - Today, a Federal Appeals Court in Cincinnati will hear arguments in the case of a Tennessee school student who claims he could not read and discuss Bible passages during recess.

The case was brought by Samuel and Tina Whitson on behalf of their son, Luke.

The parents say their child's rights were violated when he was told to stop.

A jury in Knoxville ruled in favor of Knox County Schools.

Local 8 News will keep an eye on the proceeding and bring you the decision as soon as it's handed down.

Kids should have the freedom to read the book of their choice in school. After all, the Bible is the number one seller in the nation, and we desparately need God back in the schools as our nation was founded on. Praying you win this battle and that God does wonderous things through this.

RECESS- A BREAK FROM THE USUAL ACTIVITY. A TIME TO COMPLETE AN ACTIVITY WHILE NOT DISTURBING OTHERS. SCHOOLS ARE SUSPENDING OUR FOUNDING FATHERS DREAMS, WHICH INCLUDES THE RIGHT OF OTHER CHILDREN TO CHOOSE TO LISTEN TO THE DISCUSSION OF BIBLE VERSES. CLEARLY, AFTER THE SHOOTING IN OHIO, WE NEED GOD IN OUR SCHOOLS

I hope the parents contacted the Christian Law Assoc. www.christianlaw.org. They provide free legal defense in cases like these. He has to right to read his Bible and the other kids could have walked away if they didn't want to hear what they were talking about.
