Applications accepted for elk hunt permit

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Hunters who want a chance to bag an elk in Tennessee can put in an application starting this weekend to get their name in a lottery for a permit.

Four names will be chosen in a computer drawing for one of five permits for elk hunting in Tennessee, The Tennessean reports. The fifth permit will be auctioned off by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Foundation.

Applications will be taken by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency between April 1 and May 31. Also for the first time this year, a youth elk hunt will be held for hunters between the ages of 13 and 16.

Apply at a TWRA regional office or online at www.tnelkhunt.org .
