Babysitter charged with abusing infant

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A 33 year-old babysitter has been charged with abusing a two month-old Clarksville boy.

Police say Jessica Watkins turned herself in on Saturday and is facing aggravated child abuse and neglect charges.

According to police, the child was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in September and treated for multiple broken bones after Watkins called the boy's mother and said the infant had a swollen leg.

Watkins told police she heard a pop when she removed the child from the car that day.

Police then issued a warrant for Watkins.

A jail official at the Montgomery County Jail told The Associated Press on Sunday that Watkins is being held on a $50,000 bond. The official did not know if she has an attorney.
