MADISONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Noted forensic anthropologist Dr. Bill Bass will speak Tuesday night at Hiwassee College in Madisonville and help criminal justice at the same time.
Proceeds will go to the Hiwassee College chapter of the American Criminal Justice Association, Theta Gamma Kappa.
Bass founded the University of Tennessee Anthropological Research Facility, popularly known as "the body farm." The name was used by crime author Patricia Cornwell in a novel of the same name, which was inspired by Bass and his work.
Bass has specialized in research on human osteology and human decomposition. He has assisted federal, local and non-U.S. authorities in the identification of human remains.
