Block grant to help Dyersburg in flood's wake

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (AP) -- State officials have approved a nearly $1 million grant to help Dyersburg improve city infrastructure in the wake of 2010 flooding.

The State Gazette reported the community development block grant was approved earlier this month by Gov. Bill Haslam.

Mayor John Holden said the money will allow the city to improve wastewater and drainage systems in the Southtown neighborhood. The need became evident in flooding that occurred nearly three years ago, in May 2010.
