Boss charged with offering bribe to get employee's charges dropped

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- A Franklin Co. business owner was arrested Wednesday after he tried to pay more than $5,000 to get charges against one of his employees dropped. Jesse Rogers is charged with Bribery and Solicitation to Compound a Felony.

The 60 year-old, who owns Universal Technologies, Inc., is accused of trying to bribe a complainant in an unrelated case to drop the charges against his employee, Anthony Lee Carrick, who had been indicted for Aggravated Burglary and Sexual Battery. Carrick is currently out on $3,500 bond.

Rogers was arrested in his home, behind his business on Alsonia Street in Estill Springs. His bond was set at $7,500.
