MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- The owner of a Millington transmission shop has filed suit against the city, its former police chief and two officers over drug charges.

The Commercial Appeal reported an attorney for Thomas Marlin Roberts filed the lawsuit Friday in U.S. District Court at Memphis. It seeks at least $1.5 million in damages, claiming violation of Roberts' constitutional rights.

An indictment that alleged Roberts sold drugs out of his Transmission Doctors shop was dismissed by prosecutors in August.

The lawsuit names the City of Millington, former chief of police Ray Douglas and officers Michael A. Rose and Degreaun Frazier.

Charges were also dismissed against several other people charged in the undercover investigation.

Barbara Lapides, who was listed as the city attorney for Millington, was not immediately available for comment Tuesday.
