CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- A Chattanooga attorney who has helped create public parks around Chattanooga for 15 years is being honored with a national conservation award.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports Allen McCallie helped create parks and open spaces as a volunteer and attorney with the Trust for Public Land.
Some of those spaces include the Tennessee Riverwalk, the South and North Chickamauga Creek greenways, Coolidge Park, Renaissance Park and Stringer's Ridge Park.
McCallie also has supported the development of the Aetna Mountain wildlife management area, the Tennessee River Gorge and the Lula Lake trail system.
The Trust for Public Land is the nation's second-largest land conservation organization. The group is giving McCallie the Douglas P. Ferguson award, its highest honor
