MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- Rutherford County school officials have installed video cameras to watch an elementary school playground after used syringes were found there.
WSMV-TV reports the playground was closed at McFadden School of Excellence while rakes and magnets were used to sweep the grounds after used syringes were found by children playing on Saturday. Murfreesboro Police found more, including one buried in mulch at the bottom of a slide with the needle pointed up. Police said a total of six syringes were found.
The school has classes from kindergarten through fifth grade.
School maintenance workers installed surveillance cameras on Monday to record who comes to the playground.
The school principal sent a message to parents about discovery of the syringes.
There is no indication anyone was harmed by them.
